Join a multidisciplinary team delivering inpatient care to people in a mental health setting — contributing your clinical expertise where it genuinely matters for the communities of Adelaide's south.
About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is integral to the coordination and provision of an Occupational Therapy service facilitating recovery–oriented rehabilitation which facilitates improved mental health outcomes for consumers during acute admission to the Morier Ward.
Duties for the role will include:
Apply professional judgement when undertaking assessments and planning outcome-focussed interventions with each consumer within a case load to facilitate goal attainment, independence and discharge planning.
Providing consultation and occupational therapy knowledge to meet the mental health care needs of the consumers in the team.
Offering specialist group, or individual interventions according to own knowledge base and individual skill, as determined by service/team requirements.
Managing own continuous professional development activities; supporting the development of others and contributing to learning in the work area.
Linking and co-ordinating an appropriate range of resources and specialist and general services within and across Sectors.
Delivering non-discriminatory treatment and support that is sensitive to the social and cultural values of the consumer, the consumer’s family and carers and the community
About you:
Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
Experience in the co-ordination, development, implementation and evaluation of occupational therapy services for consumers who experience high and complex needs.
Experience working with consumers who have a serious illness and/or disability and complex needs.
Experience working with carers and service providers.
Experience in the provision of a broad range of mental health occupational therapy assessments and interventions, including functional and sensory modulation.
Experience in staff and student supervision.
Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively with consumers, carers, other agencies and the multidisciplinary team.
