Ruse Early Learning Centre is a 46 place centre in Ruse (2560) that has serviced the community for over 5 years.
We are a family owned business with 7 centres throughout Sydney and are dedicated to providing high quality early education to children aged between 0-6 years.
Ruse Early Learning Centre is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our passionate team. The Cook will be responsible for planning and preparing healthy, balanced, and age-appropriate meals for children in accordance with dietary guidelines, individual allergies, and cultural preferences. This role plays an important part in maintaining the health and wellbeing of the children in our care by providing nutritious meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience cooking in a childcare, school, or similar setting, a genuine love for preparing wholesome food for children, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea for children aged 0–6 years.
- Ensure all meals meet the Australian Dietary Guidelines and individual children’s dietary, allergy, and cultural needs.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation in the kitchen at all times.
- Order and manage stock, monitor food supplies, and maintain budget awareness.
- Maintain accurate records of menus, food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and allergy management.
- Work collaboratively with the Centre Director and educators to ensure mealtimes are positive, inclusive experiences for children.
- Comply with Food Safety Standards, Education and Care Services National Regulations, and Ruse Early Learning Centre policies.
- Promote a warm, friendly atmosphere where healthy eating habits are encouraged.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate in Food Handling and/or Food Safety Supervisor qualification (NSW recognised).
- Proven experience cooking for large groups (preferably in a childcare, aged care, or school environment).
- Sound knowledge of nutrition for children aged 0–6 years.
- Understanding of food allergies, anaphylaxis management, and special dietary requirements.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain.
- Excellent time management, organisation, and communication skills.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and ability to work independently.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $26.00 – $28.00 per hour
