About the Role
We are seeking a candidate for the position of Work Coordinator, based at Pioneer Mill in Ayr. This is a leadership position that will require collaboration with both the Production and Execution teams - the successful candidate will be required to perform a full range of work coordinator duties. During the Crushing season, you will be responsible for overseeing the Day Services team and work coordination of approved work and breakdowns within the factory; and during the Maintenance Season, you will be responsible for overseeing an Execution team.
As a front-line leader, you and your team will be the eyes, ears and hands of the business to safely and efficiently identify and execute work throughout the factory. The person applying for this position will have demonstrated technical experience in heavy industry through either trade experience or engineering qualification.
A major consideration in this position will be the ability for the work coordinator to manage the safety, productivity and quality of work delivered by their team through both direct guidance and coaching.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support for the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of factory mechanical assets.
- Coordinate and oversee mechanical maintenance activities, shutdown works, capital projects, and breakdown response to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve equipment reliability, asset performance, and maintenance effectiveness.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and optimize plant performance.
- Facilitate effective communication between planning, engineering, maintenance, and execution teams to ensure successful project and maintenance outcomes.
- Support the development, execution, and review of maintenance plans, asset management strategies, and capital improvement projects.
- Conduct root cause analyses of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, statutory requirements, and company safety policies.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations on asset upgrades, equipment selection, and plant improvement opportunities.
About you
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant trade discipline, or equivalent experience
- Extensive experience in maintenance, reliability or project coordination within a heavy industrial environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse work groups and manage multiple projects
- Working knowledge of WHS legislation and industry codes of practice
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP and MS Project is desirable
