Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (Congress) is seeking a Occupational Therapist – Healthy Ageing to join its multidisciplinary Allied Health team in Alice Springs. Working within the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), you’ll deliver culturally responsive, person-centred physiotherapy services that empower older Aboriginal people to maintain their independence, mobility and quality of life.

About the role:
The Occupational Therapist provides culturally responsive high-quality occupational therapy services for older people within the Central Australian community. Services are predominantly delivered through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CSHP).
The Occupational Therapist supports older Central Australian Aboriginal people to optimise independence and function within their personal, family and community roles. Partner with service users, families, and stakeholders to enable progress towards each individual’s goals. The role is primarily based in Mparntwe (Alice Springs); occasional remote travel may be a requirement of this position.
About You:
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
Current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist
Experience working within community-based or primary health care services
Strong clinical assessment and rehabilitation skills
Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
Understanding of culturally safe practice and person-centred care
Knowledge of Aboriginal health and the social determinants of health
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Willingness to travel to remote communities as required
Current Driver Licence
Experience working within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation or delivering services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) will be highly regarded.

Eligibility to deliver Aged Care services under the Aged Care Act
