The Opportunity
Kick-start your career in commercial construction with Mettle’s 2026 Cadetship Program.
This is a great opportunity to start your career in the industry, gaining real-world experience across commercial construction projects while working alongside experienced project teams.
As a Mettle Cadet, you’ll be involved in the day-to-day delivery of projects and gain exposure across estimating, project management and site operations. You’ll see how projects come together from planning and procurement through to construction and completion, building valuable skills and industry knowledge along the way.
You’ll be supported by experienced Mettle team members who will share their knowledge, provide guidance and help you develop the confidence and capability to build a successful career in construction.
What You’ll Do
As a Cadet, you’ll gain hands-on experience across different areas of commercial construction, including:
- Supporting project teams with construction coordination, documentation and day-to-day project activities
- Assisting with estimating activities including tender preparation, subcontractor engagement and cost analysis
- Learning how projects are planned, scheduled and delivered from start to finish
- Gaining practical site experience across safety, quality and construction processes
- Working alongside project managers, site teams, subcontractors and consultants
- Building your technical knowledge and understanding of construction through real project experience
What You’ll Bring
You are someone who is motivated and excited about starting a career in commercial construction. You’re eager to learn, take on new challenges and contribute positively to the teams you work with.

You’ll be someone who:
- Is currently studying Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Building or a related discipline
- Has a genuine interest in commercial construction and how projects are planned and delivered
- Is willing to learn, develop new skills and take on feedback from others
- Has good communication skills and enjoys working collaboratively with others
- Brings a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to get involved
- Takes ownership of tasks and responsibilities and is committed to personal growth
