The People and Safety Support Officer plays a key part in delivering efficient, compliant, and customer-focused People and Safety services, supporting managers and employees across Merri‑bek. It provides coordination and administrative support to the Inclusion and Recruitment unit and contributes more broadly across the People and Safety Branch as a flexible, collaborative team member. You will provide high-quality coordination and administrative support across a range of People and Safety functions, including:
- Recruitment lifecycle: Support recruitment and onboarding, collating documentation and ensuring compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and legislative requirements.
- System support: Maintain HR systems and data integrity, tracking employee movements and restructures, and providing responsive system support to users.
- Reporting: Prepare, analyse, and distribute regular and ad hoc HR data reports.
- Customer service: Provide prompt, professional first-line support for internal recruitment and HR enquiries.
- Inclusion and improvement: Contribute to inclusion and equity initiatives, continuous process enhancements, and People and Safety projects.
- Team support: Work collaboratively with an energetic and positive team to support People and Safety priorities and improve the employee experience.
- Demonstrated experience in a similar setting combining recruitment, wellbeing, and HR administrative support.
- Proven experience using HR databases to update employee information, maintain data integrity, and troubleshoot user issues.
- Effective interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and sensitively with diverse stakeholders while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field are highly desirable.
