About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Strategic Finance team.
Reporting to the Service Lead Budgeting and Accounting, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with the City's taxation, external funding reporting and asset accounting requirements. You will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting audits, managing financial asset registers, and providing financial advice across the organisation.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of financial functions while contributing to the delivery of strategic financial outcomes for the City.
About you
We are seeking a finance professional with strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality financial services.
You will be comfortable working collaboratively across the organisation, managing competing priorities and providing sound financial advice and support.
Besides demonstrated experience in a local government governance role, you’ll need to have:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Financial Services or a related discipline
- Knowledge of accounting concepts and Australian Accounting Standards
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and reconciliation skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills
- Experience working within a professional team environment
- Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to interpret financial information and provide practical advice

Salary and Benefits: Salary range from Level 6 Step 1 – Step 4 ($104,647.66 - $112,705.08) of the City of Cockburn Industrial Agreement 2025, based on qualifications and experience.
