We are looking for a skilled and passionate Custom Prop Builder to join our growing team and help bring creative concepts to life.

About the Role
As a Custom Prop Builder, you will be responsible for constructing, modifying, and finishing a wide range of custom props and scenic elements. Working closely with our design, production, and project teams, you will transform concepts and drawings into high-quality finished products.
This is a hands-on role requiring creativity, attention to detail, and strong practical skills across various materials and construction methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Build custom props, displays, scenic elements, and set pieces from concept through to completion
- Work with timber, MDF, plastics, foam, metals, fabrics, and other materials
- Read and interpret design drawings, plans, and specifications
- Assemble, modify, repair, and maintain props and equipment
- Assist with painting, finishing, detailing, and installation works
- Operate workshop tools and machinery safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and warehouse teams
- Ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
- Assist with on-site installations and pack-downs when required
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience in carpentry, cabinet making, set building, fabrication, prop construction, or a similar trade
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to tackle new challenges
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to workplace safety
- Current driver's licence
Desirable
- Experience in the events, film, television, theatre, exhibition, or creative industries
- Welding, metal fabrication, or spray-painting experience
- Forklift licence
- Trade qualification in carpentry, cabinet making, or fabrication
- Experience with CNC machinery or workshop equipment
