Are you a proactive HSEQ professional looking to make a genuine impact within a leading engineering consultancy?
As our HSEQ Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in driving a positive safety and quality culture across our NSW and NZ operations. Reporting directly to our Global HSEQ Manager with a local secondary reporting line to our New South Wales Geographical Director you will act as a trusted advisor to our project teams and leadership.
You will lead local HSEQ initiatives, mentor operational staff, and ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality project delivery through proactive risk management, assurance, and continual process improvement.
Missions/Main Duties:
Key Responsibilities

Act as the subject matter expert, coaching and mentoring teams to foster a strong HSEQ culture and risk-based decision-making.

Drive continuous improvement of our IMS by identifying trends, streamlining processes, and providing regular compliance reporting to Regional Leads.

Assist project teams with developing project-specific Management Plans, facilitating Safety in Design / Risk Workshops (HAZOP), and managing documentation.

Conduct internal project audits, office inspections, and assist with ISO accreditation/certification audits (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

Support incident investigations (using ICAM methodologies), track corrective action plans, and ensure alerts and lessons learned are communicated effectively.

Help maintain regional Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans, First Aid competency requirements, and workplace safety registers.

High-level proficiency in designing, maintaining, and auditing safety management systems, backed by practical, ground-level implementation.
Profile/Skills:
What You’ll Bring
Essential Criteria:
-
A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, OHS, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years’ experience in the delivery of engineering and/or construction projects, including reporting, auditing, safety in design, and quality controls.

Detailed knowledge of current WHS/Environmental legislation and technical standards across NSW.

White Card (Construction Industry Induction) + Asbestos or Crystalline Silica Awareness certification.

Current Apply (Senior) First Aid competency.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence diverse teams across dispersed geographies.

Strong hands-on background in end-to-end management systems—from framework development to operational auditing, compliance verification, and continuous improvement.

Proven experience conducting site safety inspections across both corporate office environments and active operational or project sites.
Highly Desirable:

Experience working within a consulting engineering firm operating under an Integrated Management System (IMS).

Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or ISO 45001).

Experience facilitating Risk Workshops (Safe Design, HAZOP, etc.).

Exposure to formal incident investigation methodologies (ICAM) and crisis management.
