Gosford Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS to join the Neurology and Acute Stroke Service.
The successful applicant will provide advanced specialist nursing care to patients experiencing acute stroke and other neurological conditions. The CNS2 will provide clinical leadership, expert advice and support to nursing and multidisciplinary teams while promoting evidence-based, patient-centred care.

About The Opportunity
You will provide advanced clinical assessment and management of patients with acute stroke, act as a specialist clinical resource for nursing and multidisciplinary teams, support timely assessment and management of patients presenting with suspected stroke, recognise and respond appropriately to neurological deterioration, and support evidence-based acute stroke pathways, including reperfusion therapy where appropriate. In this role, you will also provide expert advice regarding stroke complications and risk management, promoting safe dysphagia and aspiration management, support secondary stroke prevention and patient education, coordinate care with medical, allied health, rehabilitation and community services, and provide clinical leadership, mentoring and education to nursing staff. In addition, you will contribute to staff orientation, competency development and ongoing professional education, participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and service development, promote compliance with relevant stroke guidelines, policies and procedures, advocate for patients and families to facilitate person-centred care, and contribute to improved patient flow, discharge planning and continuity of care.

About You
You will bring a strong commitment to high-quality community care and a passion for helping people maintain their health, independence, and dignity. You will have:
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division with relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
Demonstrated clinical expertise and clinical leadership in the area of specialty, including ability to develop nursing speciality clinical practice and service delivery
Provide expert clinical advice for complex stroke patients.
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritise and organise your workload effectively.
