Full-Time | Fixed-Term contract of employment until 31 December 2026.

TL $90,879 - $128,887 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).

The Environment and Horticultural Trades department provides a progressive, innovative and supportive teaching environment with strong industry, government and community links and partnerships. Courses and programs range from Certificate to Diploma level qualifications (including apprenticeships and VDSS) delivered through purpose-built simulation rooms, sheds and spaces, onsite and in the field, indoors and outdoors. Delivery is mainly at the luscious and green surrounds of the Glen Waverley campus. Nationally accredited programs across the department include Horticulture, Landscaping, Floristry, Landscape Construction, Landscape Design, Parks and Gardens, Sports Turf Management and Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
As a key member of our Horticulture teaching team, you will deliver engaging, practical and high-quality education that supports students from initial enrolment through to successful learning outcomes.
This hands-on role will see you design and deliver contemporary horticulture training, develop learning resources and assessment tools, and tailor your approach to meet the needs of diverse learners. Working within relevant training package, regulatory and Holmesglen requirements, you will also build strong industry relationships, contribute to course coordination and support continuous improvement across the department.
As a Teacher, you will:

Participate in the delivery of teaching and assessment in units from the Certificate III in Horticulture training package.

Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies and methodologies to meet and support the diverse needs of students, fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students including those of diverse cultures, backgrounds and abilities.

Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in student selection, induction and marketing events such as Open Days, Information nights and Expos. Provide or arrange additional educational support for individual students as identified in the pre-training review and plan, implement and evaluate teaching and learning strategies to support student progress.

Contribute to departmental evaluation and continuous improvement processes, participate in student administration procedures and undertake operational duties associated with course development, marketing and delivery

Ensure that course evaluation occurs and provide feedback to students on the progress, or assessment of their units of competency. Aid, and collaborate with, supervisory managers and other teaching staff to ensure the delivery of quality training and the validation of assessments
To be successful, you’ll have:
-
An approved degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant vocational area, or approved equivalent qualifications, at least to the level being delivered and assessed; and

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40122 or TAE40116 or TAE40110) or its successor; or
-
An approved diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education or vocational education and training; or
-
A secondary teaching qualification and one of the following credentials:
- TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set, or
- TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor, or
- TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor.

Current licences necessary to practice, or registration and/or membership of a relevant industry association where applicable.
WWCC and Police Check:
Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
