We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to help shape and deliver initiatives that strengthen tourism outcomes, support local operators and enhance the visitor experience across the municipality. About the Role
As the Visitor Economy Coordinator, you will lead the planning and coordination of visitor economy programs, campaigns and initiatives that support Council's Economic Development Strategy, Regional Marketing priorities and Events Action Plan. Working closely with tourism operators, industry bodies and regional partners, you will play a key role in fostering collaboration, identifying opportunities and delivering evidence-based programs that strengthen East Gippsland's visitor economy. You will also provide oversight and strategic support to event attraction, sponsorship and permitting activities, advocate for investment in tourism infrastructure, and help position East Gippsland as a sustainable and competitive destination.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Has
- Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to translate priorities into practical programs and measurable outcomes.
- Experience coordinating complex projects, programs or initiatives while balancing multiple priorities and competing demands.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work collaboratively across industry, government and community sectors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including the ability to use data, evidence and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- An understanding of the visitor economy, tourism, events or regional development environment and the factors that influence destination success.
- Well-developed communication skills and confidence representing an organisation in a range of industry and stakeholder settings.
- A collaborative and adaptable approach, with a genuine commitment to teamwork shared success and contributing to outcomes beyond your immediate program area.
