Rainbow Fresh Farming PTY LTD (Rainbow Fresh), located in Lewiston, South Australia 5501 is a family-owned business that grows, harvests, processes and packs fresh leafy green salad products and requires efficient production floor supervision to ensure produce is processed, packed and dispatched in line with quality, hygiene and customer requirements.
Position Description
Rainbow Fresh is seeking a full time Production Supervisor to oversee daily production floor operations, including staff, equipment, machinery, production schedules, product inspection and quality control. The role will act as a first point of supervision and troubleshooting during production activities, ensuring that fresh produce is processed and packed efficiently, safely and to required standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Supervising daily and routine production floor activities relating to the processing, packing and handling of fresh produce.
- Organising staff, equipment, machinery and workflows to meet daily production schedules.
- Allocating tasks to production workers and monitoring performance, efficiency and work quality.
- Overseeing the operation of production machinery and ensuring equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Overseeing the set-up, cleaning and basic maintenance schedules for production machinery and equipment.
- Acting as the first point of troubleshooting when production, machinery, workflow or staffing issues arise.
- Monitoring product inspection activities to ensure produce meets quality, presentation and packing requirements.
- Overseeing product quality control during processing, packing and dispatch preparation.
- Ensuring production areas are maintained in accordance with workplace health and safety, hygiene and food safety standards.
- Liaising with management, quality assurance staff, farm teams and dispatch staff to coordinate production requirements.
- Maintaining production records, staff allocation records, downtime notes and quality-related production documentation.
- Supporting continuous improvement in production efficiency, staff performance, product quality and waste reduction.
Required Skills and Experience
Applicants should have:
- Formal qualifications with at least 1 year of demonstrated work experience Or 3 years of work experience if no formal qualification is held.
- Practical knowledge of production floor workflows, machinery operation, cleaning procedures and production scheduling.
- Ability to coordinate staff and equipment to meet daily production targets.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot routine production issues.
- Understanding of hygiene, food safety, product quality and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to maintain records and communicate effectively with management and team members.
- Experience in fresh produce, horticulture, food packing or primary production is highly desirable.
