About the Role
Coogee Chemicals is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Maintenance team in Kwinana on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role supporting the reliability and performance of our plant through high-quality mechanical fitting and welding work.
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for delivering both planned and breakdown maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and minimising downtime across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform high-quality mechanical maintenance, installation, overhaul, and repair work on rotating equipment, pumps, valves, conveyors, piping systems, and other plant assets, ensuring work is completed safely and to required standards.
Execute maintenance activities in accordance with Major Hazard Facility (MHF) requirements, including compliance with permit-to-work systems, isolations, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and energy isolation (LOTO) procedures.
Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment manuals, and maintenance work instructions to diagnose faults, plan repairs, and complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
Support preventative, corrective, and shutdown maintenance programs to maximise equipment reliability, maintain asset integrity, and minimise operational downtime.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping, maintenance documentation, and hazard reporting, proactively identifying improvement opportunities and contributing to a strong safety and reliability culture across the site.
The Successful Candidate Will Have
Strong commitment to safety and risk management, with a thorough understanding of safe work practices and hazard identification in an industrial environment.
Proven mechanical fitting and maintenance skills, including the installation, repair, alignment, overhaul, and troubleshooting of plant equipment and rotating machinery.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across maintenance, operations, and contractor teams.
Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and to specification.
Sound understanding of compliance, maintenance, and quality standards, including permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures, and Major Hazard Facility requirements.
Effective fault-finding, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to diagnose equipment issues and implement practical, reliable solutions.
