About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and commercially minded National Operations Manager to lead and optimise a growing national recycling and logistics operation within the waste and circular economy sector.
This senior leadership role will see you reporting directly to the board and is responsible for overseeing multi-site operations across Australia, driving operational excellence, safety compliance, inventory management, production and despatch planning and lead times and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting strategic growth initiatives while ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-performing operations across all facilities.
The role oversees operations in NSW, Victoria and Queensland, with quarterly interstate travel required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily operations across multiple national sites
- Direct reports include Site Mangers of each location
- Manage and support site managers to ensure safety, compliance, productivity, and operational performance targets are achieved
- Oversee inventory management, including weight tracking, reconciliation, and reporting
- Conduct weekly operational meetings and drive accountability through action follow-ups
- Manage maintenance schedules and machinery breakdown responses to minimise downtime
- Oversee labour planning, including permanent staff and labour hire resources
- Collaborate closely with trading and logistics teams to prepare material shipments for overseas buyers
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with domestic and international clients and partners
- Participate in business development activities, including client presentations and service pitching
- Work alongside finance teams on operational budgets, reporting, and cost management
- Lead safety, health, environmental, and compliance initiatives, including maintaining industry certifications such as R2v3
- Monitor and report on operational KPIs, throughput, and inventory metrics
- Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership and board meetings
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and strategic operational growth
- Continuously identify future leaders to support the organisations future growth plans
About You
We are seeking a proven operational leader with experience in waste recycling, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments. You will have strong multi-site leadership capability, sound knowledge of safety and compliance frameworks, and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships. Experience within e-waste, recycling, or circular economy sectors is highly regarded. The ideal candidate will bring strong organisational skills, operational planning expertise, commercial acumen, and confidence managing maintenance programs, labour resources, budgets, and executive-level reporting within a fast-paced national operation.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Extensive experience within waste recycling, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial operations environments
- Strong leadership experience managing multi-site operations and cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of Australian waste legislation, ISO standards, and safety compliance frameworks
- Experience working within e-waste, recycling, resource recovery, or circular economy sectors highly regarded
- Strong organisational and operational planning skills
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships across clients, suppliers, regulators, and internal and international partners
- Experience managing maintenance programs, operational assets, and labour hire workforces
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including executive and board-level reporting
- Commercial and financial acumen with exposure to budgeting and operational cost management
