About the role
The Workplace Relations Advisor provides specialist advice and support on complex employee and industrial relations matters. This includes managing cases involving performance, conduct, probation and Reviews of Actions, while ensuring compliance with legislation, government policies and industrial agreements.
The role builds strong relationships with People & Culture, managers, employees, senior executives and unions. It provides timely advice, manages employee relations cases, supports organisational change and restructures, and assists with reporting and administration. Other duties may be assigned in line with the role’s classification, skills and capabilities.
What we’re looking for (Selection Criteria)
You’re someone who:
- Have strong workplace relations and HR expertise, including performance management and enterprise agreement interpretation.
- Apply sound judgement to complex employee matters, legislation, policies and industrial requirements.
- Understand the VPS Review of Actions policy.
- Remain calm and professional when managing sensitive issues and competing priorities.
- Communicate, influence and negotiate effectively with leaders, employees and key stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively, adapt to changing priorities and identify opportunities to improve processes and business outcomes.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field is desirable.
Pre-employment checks and employment conditions

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
