The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an experienced Practice Lead – Construction Risk Management to lead and strengthen QBE’s Construction Risk Engineering capability across Australia. Working closely with underwriting, distribution, broker partners and customers, you will provide technical expertise across complex construction risks, drive capability uplift, shape strategy, and support improved portfolio and client outcomes.

Your new role:
As Practice Lead – Construction Risk Management, you will be responsible for setting the technical direction, strengthening capability and partnering across the business to deliver high-quality construction risk engineering services.
Key responsibilities include:

Lead Construction Risk Engineering: Develop and execute a Construction risk engineering strategy, including establishing the customer value proposition and service offerings.

Lead construction risk management for key accounts, providing technical expertise, risk assessments and tailored solutions for complex construction risks.

Support Underwriting Performance: Partner with underwriting to improve risk selection and pricing, contribute to risk appetite and analyse loss trends.

Engage Clients and Brokers: Deliver value-added services through support of major placements, whilst developing construction risk insights and thought leadership to impact on customer risk management practices.

Build Risk Engineering Capability: Building further QBE capability through internal and supplier risk engineers and fostering technical excellence.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
-
Extensive experience in construction risk engineering, risk consulting, or engineering consultancy.

Deep expertise in large and complex construction risks, including CAR, EAR and DSU exposures.

Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, structural systems, sequencing, temporary works and commissioning activities.

Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and lead technical teams or projects.

Tertiary qualification in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Construction Engineering.

Professional accreditation (CPEng, RPEQ, PE or CEng) and/or relevant project management, risk management or safety certifications (e.g. PMP, ISO 45001, NEBOSH).
