About the role
As a Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic, you’ll perform preventative maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and breakdown repairs across Georgiou’s heavy mobile plant fleet.
You’ll play an important role in keeping equipment safe, reliable and available for the project’s production team, working across a range of heavy earthmoving and ancillary equipment in a fast-paced project environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance across heavy mobile plant and equipment
- Diagnose faults and undertake breakdown repairs to minimise equipment downtime
- Carry out servicing, repairs and component maintenance to required safety and reliability standards
- Maintain and repair equipment including articulated and rigid trucks, scrapers, dozers, excavators, graders, wheel loaders and ancillary plant
- Apply strong diagnostic, fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and associated systems
- Identify defects and emerging maintenance issues before they impact plant availability
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately and to required standards
- Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor and construction team to prioritise maintenance activities
- Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with Georgiou’s safety, quality and compliance requirements
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance and production teams to keep the fleet operating efficiently
Your skills and experience
- Australian recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Duty Fitter / Plant Mechanic
- Demonstrated post-trade experience maintaining heavy mobile plant and earthmoving equipment
- Proven experience with CAT or similar heavy earthmoving equipment, including scrapers, dozers, graders, wheel loaders and excavators
- Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and troubleshooting capability, including electrical systems
- Experience working across workshop and field service environments
- Previous mining, FIFO or large-scale civil construction experience will be highly regarded
- Strong commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
- Construction White Card
- Valid C Class driver’s licence, with HR licence highly regarded
- Physically fit and capable of meeting the demands of the role
