An exciting opportunity for an Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team
Service Stream’s Utilities division is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team. You will support the delivery of routine and reactive maintenance across water and sewer infrastructure within Yarra Valley Water’s Northern Service Delivery area.
This role provides the opportunity to develop hands-on skills while working alongside qualified Electricians and Instrumentation Technicians in a safety-focused, team-based environment.
As an Electrical Apprentice, you will assist experienced tradespeople with maintaining and repairing water and wastewater systems. You will gain practical experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding, and basic instrumentation while working on critical infrastructure that supports the community.
Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with electrical disconnects and reconnects

Supporting fault finding and troubleshooting activities

Helping respond to equipment breakdowns and system faults

Carrying out basic maintenance tasks under supervision

Assisting with installation and upgrades of plant and equipment
-
Supporting programmed maintenance and minor works
-
Learning commissioning and decommissioning processes
-
Assisting with inspection, testing, and repair of equipment
-
Working safely in line with company procedures and industry standards

Maintaining tools, equipment and a clean work environment
You will also:

Work as part of a team across electrical and mechanical disciplines

We’re looking for someone who is motivated to learn and build a career in the electrical or utilities industry.

Currently undertaking or looking to commence an Electrical Apprenticeship

Strong interest in electrical and/or instrumentation work

Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Strong commitment to safety and quality

Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environment

Current Driver’s Licence (or working towards)

Ability to follow instructions and work safely on site

Basic computer skills (desirable)

Interest in industrial, water, or wastewater environments (beneficial)

Willingness to undertake further training and development
Successful applicants must obtain and maintain a satisfactory critical infrastructure background check in accordance with AusCheck requirements (mandatory)
