ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.
About the Opportunity
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the technical execution, support, and continuous improvement of ASC’s cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Microsoft Azure environments. This role is central to enabling secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud services that underpin ASC’s digital transformation and operational capability.
Some flexibility around working hours is required as you will be partnering with others in different time zones and occasional travel may be undertaken.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, configure, automate and maintain secure cloud infrastructure and code
- Monitor and maintain workload health, capacity planning, cost optimisation and performance tuning
- Maintain updates, patches, vulnerability remediation and lifecycle management
- Implement and maintain, security, compliance, identities and access control
- Troubleshooting and incident response and restoration of services
- Preparing and executing documented changes, risk assessments and rollback plans
- Maintaining diagrams, configurations, resource inventories, SOPs and runbooks
About you
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise Cloud Engineering roles
- Significant experience in designing, deploying and managing best practice Microsoft Azure environments
- Deep prior experience with Microsoft AAD/Entra ID and M365
- Proven experience deploying and operating Azure compute, storage, network, identity, security, resources and subscriptions
- Experience with automation, development and deployment of infrastructure and applications as code
- Experience with cloud migration and common cloud native application architectures and technical blueprints
- Knowledge of cloud security concepts including posture management and security baselines for regulated organisations
- Prior experience working in a defence and/or highly regulated environment would be advantageous
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
