Position title: Retail Manager
About the Role
The role is to oversee the day-to-day operations of our furniture retail store. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing store operations, leading the sales team, maintaining high standards of customer service, and driving business performance while ensuring efficient and profitable store operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and control the overall daily operations of the retail store.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve business objectives and sales targets.
- Recruit, supervise, train and performance manage retail staff.
- Prepare staff rosters and allocate duties to ensure efficient store operations.
- Monitor sales performance, analyse reports and implement strategies to improve profitability.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve complex customer enquiries and complaints.
- Manage inventory levels, coordinate stock ordering and oversee stock control procedures.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure the timely supply of products and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Monitor store presentation, merchandising and promotional activities to maximise sales opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace health and safety requirements, and relevant retail legislation.
- Assist in preparing budgets, controlling operating costs and monitoring store expenditure.
- Report directly to senior management on store performance and operational matters.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or higher qualification is required. A qualification in Business, Retail Management, Commerce, Marketing or another related discipline is preferred.
- At least two years' full-time (or equivalent) experience in a retail management role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and motivate a retail team to achieve business objectives.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proven ability to manage store operations, analyse sales performance and implement strategies to achieve sales targets.
- Sound understanding of inventory management, merchandising and retail operational procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment and adapt to changing business needs.
Pay: $80,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
