Seeking your next adventure? Become the Pool Manager at Pipalyatjara in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankuntjatjara (APY) Lands!
We are looking for an enthusiastic, culturally respectful and adaptable individual to manage the Pipalyatjara pool, located in the far north-western corner of South Australia within the APY Lands.
Pipalyatjara is a small yet welcoming Anangu community, nestled among striking red desert landscapes and surrounded by the beautiful Musgrave Ranges. The community offers a unique experience to live and work amongst the traditional custodians of the land. Its remote location provides opportunities for adventure, including exploring local walking tracks, viewing ancient rock art, and visiting nearby communities such as Kalka and Kanpi. Pipalyatjara is close to the Northern Territory and Western Australia borders, making it an ideal base for those passionate about exploring Australia's remote outback.
The APY pools are critical for health, wellbeing, and education?serving Anangu students and families. During the pool season (Terms 4 and 1, and summer school holidays), the pool is used for lifesaving training, PE curriculum, play, and wider community swimming outside school hours. As Pool Manager, you?ll oversee daily operations, safety, and maintenance. In the off-season, you?ll handle basic maintenance tasks and support the local school, which may include grounds care, repairs, and cleaning. A seven-day roster may apply during the pool season, based on community consultation, and start/end dates may vary depending on confirmed pool season dates.
The initial appointment covers the pool season, with potential extension into the off-season depending on applicant skills and experience.
Success in this role requires genuine cultural respect, openness, resilience, flexibility, and the ability to foster strong community relationships. Previous pool management or lifeguard experience is desirable, but training will be provided.

Up to $20,000 attraction allowance over your contract (pro rata)
Locality allowance of $5,700?$9,000 per annum
