As we deliver major infrastructure that will support Victoria’s growth for decades to come, we are seeking a Senior Environment Advisor to play a critical role in the delivery of Melbourne Airport’s Third Runway (M3R) program.
This is a unique opportunity to influence the environmental and heritage outcomes of a nationally significant project while working at the intersection of infrastructure delivery, regulatory compliance, sustainability and stakeholder engagement. You'll be part of a highly visible team supporting major developments including the Third Runway Program, Eastern Extension Project (EEP) and delivery of 2027 Master Plan.

Key responsibilities:
The role's duties and accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide environmental and heritage oversight across the Third Runway Program, ensuring compliance with legislative and approval requirements.

Review contractor environmental management plans, undertake inspections and support environmental compliance activities.

Manage environmental and sustainability consultants delivering technical studies, assessments and approvals.

Monitor environmental performance, maintain compliance registers and prepare reporting for regulators and project leadership.

Support environmental approvals, permits, biodiversity offset obligations and environmental monitoring programs.

Provide practical, commercially focused environmental advice to project, design, construction and operational teams.

Lead environmental input into the Eastern Extension Project and Master Plan 2027, including major development planning, public exhibition responses and stakeholder engagement activities.

Build strong relationships with regulators, government agencies, contractors, consultants, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders.

Contribute to environmental training, awareness initiatives and the ongoing development of Melbourne Airport's environmental management systems and sustainability commitments.
The successful candidate will have:

Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or a related discipline.

Strong experience in environmental advisory, consulting or environmental management roles.

Experience supporting major infrastructure, construction or civil projects.

Strong understanding of environmental and heritage legislation, approvals and compliance requirements.

Knowledge across key environmental disciplines including biodiversity, heritage, contamination, water, air quality and noise.

Experience in environmental risk management, compliance monitoring and auditing.

Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively with regulators, contractors, consultants and project teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A collaborative approach with the ability to influence, mentor and build strong working relationships.
