Join our team as a Service Manager IT Operations
If you've successfully led IT Operations teams through cloud migration and infrastructure change, this is an opportunity to make a real impact. As Service Manager IT Operations, you'll lead the people, systems and services that keep Council's technology environment running efficiently and securely. Leading a skilled team across infrastructure, networks, communications, storage and support services, you'll play a key role in delivering operational excellence while driving Council's transition to cloud-based services and ensuring technology capabilities remain aligned to organisational needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Cloud Transformation Leadership – Drive Council's transition from on-premises infrastructure and data storage to scalable cloud-based services
Operational Excellence – Lead the delivery of reliable, secure and high-performing IT operations across infrastructure, networks, servers, databases and communications.
Service Delivery Focus – Ensure IT services are customer-centric, fit-for-purpose and aligned to business needs.
Technical Leadership – Oversee the installation, maintenance and optimisation of critical technology platforms and environments.
Resilience & Security – Maintain robust disaster recovery, business continuity and cyber resilience capabilities.
Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to improve operations through automation, innovation and service enhancements.
People Leadership – Develop, coach and empower a high-performing team focused on collaboration, accountability and exceptional service.
Strategic Partnership Management – Build strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors and leadership teams to influence technology outcomes and investment decisions.
Skills and experience:
Proven experience leading IT Operations functions within a medium to large and complex environment.
Demonstrated success delivering cloud transformation and infrastructure modernisation initiatives at scale.
Strong knowledge of IT Operations disciplines including infrastructure, networks, storage, databases and technical support services.
Experience implementing and managing contemporary service management frameworks such as ITIL.
Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and influence senior leaders and executive teams.
Strong vendor and third-party management experience, including performance and partnership management.
Exceptional problem-solving, analytical and decision-making capabilities within complex technology environments.
Demonstrated experience leading, developing and motivating high-performing technical teams through change and transformation.

Eligibility:
You will possess the following:
- Strong proven experience in the management of IT Operations within a complex environment.
- Strong proven experience in IT stakeholder management and business engagement.
- Current IT Operations qualifications and/or certifications (such as ITIL).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent industry experience in a related discipline.
- Significant leadership experience working within a complex business environment.
