Working closely with our Data Architect/Engineer and reporting to the Data Platform Lead, you'll work with teams across the business, as well as technology partners, to build and support reliable data solutions that help people make better decisions.
As part of Scope's data transformation journey, you'll help develop and improve our Microsoft Fabric data platform, delivering data solutions that support reporting, analytics and future AI opportunities across the organisation.

About Your Role
Scope has an exciting and unique opportunity for a Data Engineer to join our data and business intelligence function at point in Scope’s data journey where there is still considerable greenfield work in building out the data platform.
This newly created position is initially a 12 month fixed term contract and will provide the opportunity to combine both business as usual and project deliverables, leveraging your existing technical, problem solving and in-house consulting skills and affording opportunities for growth and contribution to the sustainable future of Scope.

Your Key Focus
The Data Engineer will play a key role in developing, enhancing and supporting core components of Scope’s Fabric-based data platform. This includes integrating new data sources, building and maintaining lakehouse and warehouse assets across medallion layers, developing metadata-driven pipelines and notebooks, supporting data quality and operational monitoring, and contributing to secure, scalable and reusable data solutions for reporting, analytics and future AI use cases. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, external vendors and other delivery partners.
Your tasks will include:
- Analyse source systems and business requirements to understand data structures, integration patterns and reporting needs.
- Develop, maintain and enhance lakehouse, warehouse and semantic-model-ready data assets within Scope’s Microsoft Fabric platform.
- Build and support metadata-driven data pipelines, notebooks and SQL-based transformation processes to ingest, validate, transform and load data across platform layers.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of conformed, reusable and well-documented data models aligned to Scope’s domain-based architecture.
- Support operational administration activities including scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, logging and continuous improvement of data processing jobs.
- Apply development standards and contribute to CI/CD processes using Azure DevOps, GIT and Fabric deployment capabilities.
What We Look For
We will value your :
- Advanced T-SQL skills, including the ability to write complex queries, views and stored procedures
- Spark-SQL and/or Python skills, including use of notebooks to transform, validate and prepare data
- Strong data modelling skills, including experience working with conformed, dimensional and/or medallion-style data models
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Proven experience in
- Cloud data platforms and modern data engineering solutions.
- Developing, enhancing and maintaining data pipelines, transformation processes and enterprise data stores.
- Working with stakeholders to translate business and reporting requirements into robust data solutions.
