Business Partner (Employee Relations) Advisor – NSW Trustee and Guardian

The agency supports the NSW Trustee, the Public Guardian and the Commissioner of Dormant Funds to carry out their statutory functions. We do this by providing a range of customer-centred services, including Will-making, trustee, financial management and guardianship services, including some for the state’s most vulnerable people.

The Business Partner (Employee Relations) Advisor provides practical, end‑to‑end support to leaders and managers across a broad range of employee relations matters at NSW Trustee and Guardian. Working within the People and Culture team, the role delivers a broad range of employee relations services to divisions, including non-complex workplace investigations, case management, and industrial and HR advice, to support the effective management of the employee lifecycle.
You will provide timely, evidence‑based advice on matters including performance, conduct, grievances and industrial relations, and support managers to apply policies, legislation and procedural fairness requirements. The role also contributes to workforce reporting, establishment management and continuous improvement initiatives to help ensure people practices are consistent, compliant and aligned to organisational priorities.

You are an experienced HR professional with strong employee relations capability and the confidence to provide clear, practical advice to leaders and managers. You exercise sound judgement when managing sensitive matters, understand when to escalate risk, and apply a consistent, fair and compliant approach.
You are comfortable managing Employee Relations casework end‑to‑end, preparing clear documentation, and interpreting policies, legislation and industrial instruments. You build effective working relationships and can balance competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
