Licensed Electrician / Electrical Contractor – Flexible Subcontract Work
ASB Trailers – Ingleburn, NSW
ASB Trailers is looking for a licensed electrician / electrical contractor to carry out electrical installation, system planning and certification work on brand-new trailers during the manufacturing stage.
This is flexible subcontract work suited to an electrician who operates their own business and is looking for semi-regular additional work alongside their existing jobs.
About the Role
Electrical work is generally completed during the trailer build, before internal walls, linings and final fit-out are installed.
The work is not constant or full-time. Jobs will come through on a semi-frequent basis depending on our production schedule, with work arranged in advance where possible.
Typical work may include:
- Basic 12V and 240V electrical system design
- Reviewing proposed systems and confirming that selected components are compatible and suitable to work together
- Advising on component sizing and system requirements
- Planning cable routes and equipment locations during the trailer build
- Installation of 240V power outlets and power inlets
- Installation of inverters and inverter/chargers
- Installation of battery chargers
- Installation and wiring of automatic transfer switches (ATS)
- 12V DC wiring for inverter and battery systems
- Installation and wiring of solar panels
- Connection of solar panels to suitable MPPT/solar controllers
- Wiring of switches, lights and other 12V accessories where required
- Testing and commissioning completed systems
- Fault checking and verifying correct operation
- Electrical certification and compliance documentation
- Advising our fabrication team on electrical requirements during the build
Systems may include lithium batteries, solar panels, MPPT chargers, DC-DC chargers, inverters, inverter/chargers, 12V distribution, 240V outlets/inlets, ATS systems and associated electrical equipment.
An important part of the role is being able to review the proposed electrical setup and confirm that the battery bank, inverter, charger, solar panels, solar controller, cabling, protection devices and other components are correctly matched before installation.
Contractor Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold the appropriate NSW electrical licence
- Have a current ABN
- Operate as an independent contractor
- Invoice ASB Trailers for completed work
- Have their own workers compensation insurance where required
- Hold appropriate public liability/business insurance
- Supply their own electrical tools and testing equipment
- Be capable of testing and certifying completed installations
- Understand relevant Australian electrical standards and compliance requirements
- Be comfortable reviewing electrical equipment specifications and confirming component compatibility
Experience with trailers, caravans, motorhomes, mobile power systems, lithium batteries, solar or inverter systems would be highly regarded.
Very Flexible Hours
We are flexible with when the work is completed.
Work can generally be arranged:
- During weekdays
- On weekends
- During normal business hours
- In the afternoon or later in the day
- Around your existing electrical business or other jobs
This could suit an electrician who already has their own workload but wants to take on occasional to semi-regular subcontract jobs.
The main requirement is that each electrical stage is completed at the appropriate point in the trailer build so our production can continue.
