The Agri Technician best suitable for this position will be responsible for providing technical support for the cropping activities and will be required to work closely with the Farm Manager and Supervisor to achieve optimal farming outcomes for the Avocado, mango and lime farm.
Tasks involves:
1. Soil Analysis and Preparation. This includes soils tests for the assessment of the quality of the soil and the nutrient levels and help with soil preparation to create an optimal planting environment.
2. Monitor and identifying pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies. Implement pest and disease control strategies, including the application of pesticides or integrated pest management techniques.
3. Assist in the selection and obtaining of fertilisers and chemicals for the crops.
4. Coordinating and advising when new crops are planted. Furthermore, making sure that this is done according to planned schedule.
5. Manage the irrigation to make sure crops are irrigated. In addition to this, soil moisture levels must also be monitored, and irrigation must be adjusted according to moisture levels in soil.
6. Support the Farm Manager and Supervisor in the planning and supervision of the harvesting activities relating to the Avocados, Limes and Mangoes.
7. Maintain and repair farm equipment and machinery, this includes the tractors, mowers, sprayers, earth moving equipment and truck on the farm.
8. Make sure that safety protocols and regulations are in place to ensure the well-being of farm workers and compliance with environmental laws.
Skills required:
1. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in the agriculture or horticulture industry.
2. A relevant diploma in the production of agriculture or horticulture sector.
3. Proven experience and skills in the operations of Mangoes, Limes and Avocados.
4. Trustworthy person who can be relied upon.
5. Be a responsible person who can work in a team environment.
6. Enthusiastic, professional attitude and understanding of the objectives of DBC Farming.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
