Wollemi Capital Group is a private family office managing a portfolio of investments and operating businesses, including WNBL. Finance operates as a shared services function supporting multiple entities, with a small team where accuracy, ownership and commercial discipline are non-negotiable.
This person will also be expected to drive process improvement, identifying opportunities to automate and streamline workflows, reduce manual handling and build more efficient, scalable finance operations. Strong technical ability combined with a genuine interest in systems and continuous improvement will be critical to success in this role.
Purpose of the Role
The Financial Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the WNBL entity, Wollemi Family Office and with capacity to support other Group businesses as required. Working within a finance team comprising the Group CFO and Deputy CFO, the role spans AP, AR, payroll and month-end close, and requires a high degree of accuracy and a disciplined approach to reconciliations and controls. The role also involves managing and coordinating with external service providers as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
· Process and accurately code supplier invoices across the WNBL and other Group entities
· Manage vendor relationships and maintain vendor master data integrity
· Perform credit card reconciliations, ensuring correct allocation of expenses to cost centres
· Prepare and execute weekly payment runs in line with internal approval and cash flow controls
· Ensure all AP transactions are processed ahead of month-end close
· Monitor outstanding payables and support cash flow planning in consultation with the Deputy CFO
Accounts Receivable
· Raise accurate and timely invoices across sponsorship, commercial partnerships and other revenue streams
· Maintain sponsorship invoicing trackers and ensure alignment with contractual payment schedules
· Manage debtor collections and follow up outstanding receivables
· Reconcile Basketball Connect and other platform transactions and investigate discrepancies
· Prepare debtor ageing reports and escalate material risks
· Support accurate revenue recognition processes
Payroll Processing
· Prepare payroll for Deputy CFO review, ensuring accuracy of salaries, player payments, allowances and entitlements
· Reconcile superannuation contributions and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines
· Maintain payroll clearing accounts and reconcile payroll journals to the general ledger
· Support payroll-related reporting and assist with year-end reconciliations
Month-End Preparation and Financial Control
· Complete timely bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
· Prepare and post month-end journals including accruals and reclassifications
· Perform AP and AR reconciliations prior to close
· Ensure Hubdoc documentation is complete and audit-ready
· Assist in preparation of management reporting schedules for ownership and executive review
· Support FBT and depreciation schedules across Group entities
· Contribute to accurate and timely month-end reporting across all entities
Qualifications and Experience
· Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
· Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
· CPA or CA studies commenced or completed preferred
· Strong understanding of GST, FBT, payroll compliance and superannuation obligations
· Advanced Excel capability
· Experience with Xero, MYOB or similar accounting systems
· Experience in multi-entity or family office environments preferred
· Exposure to professional sport or private investment environments advantageous

Pay: $77,147.21 – $122,416.02 per year
