The opportunity
We are hiring a skilled Legal Counsel to join an innovative Australian business operating in the advanced food manufacturing and technology sector.
This is a 9-month secondment (with the potential to extend). Based in Sydney, this a hybrid opportunity with flexible working arrangements.
You will act as the primary legal contact in the Sydney office and provide practical, independent support across a broad range of commercial matters. The environment is fast moving and highly innovative, with evolving regulatory issues and limited precedent.
Key responsibilities
- Provide commercial legal advice across the business.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements.
- Support the business on regulatory matters, working with other regulatory specialists where required.
- Advise senior leaders and internal stakeholders on legal risk and practical solutions.
- Manage competing priorities and respond directly to legal questions from across the business.
- Exercise sound judgement in areas where processes, guidance or precedent may still be developing.
About you
- You are an experienced commercial lawyer with approximately 5 to 15 years PQE. You must hold a current NSW unrestricted practising certificate.
- You can work independently, take ownership of matters and provide clear advice without close supervision.
- You have strong commercial contracting experience and the confidence to operate as a broad legal generalist.
- You are comfortable working through ambiguity and making practical decisions in a fast moving environment.
- You communicate clearly, build trust quickly and enjoy working closely with senior leaders and operational teams.
- Experience with regulatory matters is desirable. A background in science, technology, advanced manufacturing or another technical environment would be an advantage.
- You must hold full Australian working rights. Clario cannot provide sponsorship for this opportunity.
