About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Data Lead to join our Digital Technology team on a 12-month contract as part of Council’s Core Systems Replacement (CSR) program.
This role is critical to ensuring the successful migration of data across multiple systems as part of a major transformation program. You will lead end-to-end data migration activities and work closely with business units, ICT, vendors and system integrators to ensure data is accurate, complete and ready for use in new systems.
You will play a key role in establishing data standards, managing risks and ensuring a smooth transition to go-live and beyond.
The primary objectives of the role include:
Leading end-to-end data migration planning and delivery across multiple systems
Managing data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) activities
Defining and overseeing data quality, validation and reconciliation processes
Coordinating data migration activities across business units, ICT and external vendors
Identifying and resolving data defects, risks and issues throughout the migration lifecycle
Supporting cutover planning and execution to ensure successful system go-live
Providing clear reporting on data status, risks and readiness
Ensuring data aligns with governance standards, legislative requirements and best practice
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in:
Leading data migration activities for ERP or complex system implementations
Managing data extraction, transformation, loading and reconciliation processes across multiple systems
Working with business SMEs, technical teams and system integrators to resolve data issues
Supporting cutover, go-live and post-implementation stabilisation activities
Developing and maintaining data mappings, transformation rules and documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including experience with SQL, Excel or data tools
Communicating complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Working in large-scale transformation programs, preferably within local government or complex environments
