Glencore Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Ringfirer, in the P49 Operations Team at George Fisher Mine (GFM). This position is residentially based in Mount Isa.
The Role
We are looking for a multi-skilled operator with a strong commitment to safety to join us in the role of Ringfirer within the P49 Operations Team at George Fisher Mine. Reporting to the P49 Supervisor, you will assist frontline operations to safely achieve the mine plan. The roster for this role is an even time roster on a 7/7 continuous configuration (12hr shifts).
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Pre-start checks
Safely meet production targets
Identify and report workplace hazards
Safe and efficient preparation and charging of production blast holes with explosives
Safe and efficient preparation and charging of oversize rocks and hung up draw points with explosives
Carry out inspections and maintenance on all equipment
Planning of your shift to meet task-based outcomes,
Preparation of blast holes for charging, collection and transport of explosives and charging in accordance with charging and firing plans safely and accurately
The successful candidate will possess:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a mining/underground operation and previous experience working with explosives
Good time management skills and able to work well under pressure
It will be essential to hold/or be able to obtain statutory requirements which will be required to store, handle, transport and use explosives
Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
Good communication skills, including written record keeping
Willingness and ability to learn new processes
Excellent trouble-shooting & problem solving skills
Flexible approach and adaptable to change with a high attention to detail
Hold a current Australian Manual Licence
