About the role
Reporting to the Veterinary Nurse Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care and management of hospitalised, pre- and post-op surgical patients, while supporting the smooth operation of the clinic.
Your responsibilities will include:

Daily care of a variety of species including feeding, walking, bathing, and providing enrichment

Working collaboratively with nursing staff and volunteers to monitor animal behaviour and health

Safe, low-stress handling and restraint of animals to support examinations, diagnostic procedures, and medical treatments

Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, hygiene, laundry, and infection control throughout our six hospital wards

Assisting nurses and veterinarians with patient transport and basic clinical support tasks

Restocking clinical and animal care areas and supporting stock control

Accurate completion of observation notes and other patient-related documentation

Working collaboratively within the team to ensure efficient clinic operations and positive patient outcomes
What you can bring to the role
You are calm, reliable, and observant, with a genuine passion for animal care and welfare. You take pride in your work and understand how attention to small details makes a big difference to patient outcomes.
You will ideally have:

A Certificate II in Animal Studies and/or Certificate III in Animal Care Services, or equivalent experience
-
Previous experience in an animal care or veterinary clinic environments

Confidence handling animals safely and compassionately using low-stress techniques
-
Strong attention to detail, particularly with hygiene, biosecurity, and infection control

The ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in patient condition
-
The ability to work autonomously and as part of a large rotating team
-
A proactive, team-focused attitude with good communication skills
-
Willingness to learn and adapt to operational needs whilst contributing positively to clinic culture.
