Live Shopping Host | E-commerce | Casual
We’re looking for a confident, charismatic and commercially minded Live Shopping Host to help us test and build live shopping across our portfolio of growing e-commerce brands.
This is not a traditional presenting role.
We’re looking for someone who can get on camera, understand a product quickly, communicate its benefits naturally, engage with a live audience and, importantly, sell without sounding like they’re reading a sales script.
You’ll initially work with us on a casual basis one day per week to help us test live shopping across platforms such as TikTok Live and other social and e-commerce channels.
If the channel performs, there is significant potential for the role to grow with it.
The Role
As our Live Shopping Host, you’ll be the on-camera face of live commerce sessions for one or more of our consumer brands.
You’ll work with our marketing and creative team to understand the products, offers, customer objections and key messaging before each session, then bring that material to life in a way that feels entertaining, conversational and authentic.
A typical session could involve:
- Demonstrating and explaining products live
- Talking through product benefits and use cases
- Answering customer questions in real time
- Responding naturally to comments and audience interaction
- Introducing offers, bundles and promotions
- Creating urgency without using aggressive or outdated sales tactics
- Keeping the energy of the stream moving during quieter periods
- Repeating important messages without making the session feel repetitive
- Helping turn viewers into customers
- Providing feedback after each session on common questions, objections and audience reactions
You should be equally comfortable following a run sheet and improvising when the audience takes the conversation somewhere unexpected.
What We're Looking For
You do not necessarily need previous live-shopping experience.
Experience in any of the following could translate extremely well:
- Live streaming
- TikTok or social content creation
- UGC/content creation
- Presenting
- Podcasting
- Radio
- Events or MC work
- Retail sales
- Demonstration sales
- Hospitality
- Beauty or product consulting
- Influencer marketing
- Acting or performance
- Direct-response sales
More important than your exact background is your ability to be comfortable, credible and engaging on camera while still understanding that the purpose of the session is commercial.
You'll probably be a strong fit if you:
- Have a naturally engaging personality on camera
- Can speak confidently without sounding overly scripted
- Are comfortable talking continuously during a live broadcast
- Can explain products simply and persuasively
- Listen well and respond quickly to audience questions
- Understand how social media audiences communicate
- Are confident using TikTok and similar platforms
- Can balance entertainment, education and selling
- Take direction well but don't require every sentence to be scripted
- Are reliable, organised and prepared
- Are comfortable reviewing your own performance and improving from session to session
- Have strong communication skills and good judgment
- Understand that great live selling should still feel genuine
The Commercial Side
We're approaching live shopping as a measurable acquisition and sales channel, not simply another content format.
We'll be looking at metrics such as:
- Live viewers
- Average watch time and retention
- Audience engagement
- Product clicks
- Add-to-cart activity
- Conversion rate
- Sales generated
- Revenue per session
- Performance of different offers, formats and products
You do not need to be a performance marketer, but you should be interested in understanding what makes one session perform better than another.
We want someone who is excited by the idea of testing different hooks, formats, demonstrations, offers and approaches, then using the results to improve the next stream.
What the Initial Test Looks Like
Initially, this will be a casual role for one day per week while we validate live shopping as a channel.
The first phase will focus on structured testing rather than immediately committing to a larger weekly schedule.
On your allocated day, you may be involved in:
- Preparing for upcoming live sessions
- Learning the products and key selling points
- Rehearsing product demonstrations
- Hosting live-shopping sessions
- Engaging with viewers and answering questions
- Reviewing session performance
- Identifying ways to improve future sessions
We'll provide:
- Product and brand training
- Key product information
- Customer insights and FAQs
- Offer details
- Session objectives
- Talking points and run sheets
- Support from our marketing and creative team
We'll review performance after each test and continue improving the format.
If live shopping proves successful, there may be an opportunity to increase the frequency of sessions and expand the scope of the role.
What We'd Love You to Bring
Bonus points if you have experience with:
- TikTok Live
- TikTok Shop or social commerce
- Live-stream selling
- E-commerce brands
- Direct-response marketing
- UGC creation
- Influencer content
- Product demonstrations
- Consumer health, wellness, beauty or lifestyle products
- Reading live comments while presenting
- Working with live-streaming software or multi-camera setups
None of these are absolute requirements.
The ability to connect with an audience and confidently communicate why someone should buy a product matters more to us than having the perfect CV.
Pay and Engagement
Employment type: Casual
Initial commitment: 1 day per week
Pay: $25 to $35 per hour + performance commission
Hours: Session and test-day based
Schedule: Some flexibility may be required depending on the optimal live-shopping times for our audience
Location: [Insert location]
The hourly rate will depend on experience, confidence on camera and relevant sales, presenting or live-streaming experience.
In addition to the hourly rate, you'll have the opportunity to earn performance-based commission on sales generated through live-shopping sessions.
We want the person hosting the sessions to benefit directly when the channel performs well.
As the live-shopping program grows, there may also be opportunities for increased hours, additional responsibilities and greater earning potential.
Who We Are
We're a growing e-commerce group building consumer brands with a strong focus on creative, performance marketing and direct customer relationships.
We move quickly, test ideas, learn from actual customer behaviour and invest further in the channels that perform.
Live shopping is a new channel for us, so this is an opportunity to join at the beginning and help shape what the function becomes rather than stepping into an established script.
For the right person, we want this to become your channel to own, not simply another presenting gig.
How to Apply
Please send us:
- A short introduction about yourself
- Any relevant presenting, sales, content or live-streaming experience
- Links to social accounts, UGC, presenting clips or previous live content if available
- Your general availability
Most importantly, send us a short video.
It doesn't need to be professionally produced.
Record a 60 to 90 second video introducing yourself and selling us a product you already have at home.
It could be your coffee machine, skincare product, protein powder, frying pan, headphones or anything else.
Imagine you're live, there are people watching, and you have 60 seconds to make them interested in the product.
We're much more interested in seeing how you communicate, engage and sell than reading a perfectly polished cover letter.
Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
