THE OPPORTUNITY
As EML continues to invest in data, automation and AI-enabled solutions, our Technology function is focused on delivering practical, governed innovation that improves outcomes across Workers Compensation.
We are looking for Business Analyst who can operate in complex, evolving environments, bringing structure to ambiguity and driving clarity across business and technology teams.
In this role, you will work across the full delivery lifecycle, from early discovery through to implementation, helping define problems clearly, shape solution approaches and ensure outcomes are delivered with discipline and traceability.
This role is suite to an experienced Business Analyst who is:

Build strong stakeholder relationships and balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery.
This will be a full time, 12-month fixed-term contract based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Define and structure business problems through discovery activities, ensuring clarity of scope, objectives and constraints before solution delivery begins.

Lead stakeholder engagement across workshops, interviews and analysis sessions to build a shared understanding of business needs and priorities.

Translate business problems into clear, structured requirements and solution approaches that can be effectively delivered by technical teams.

Produce high-quality artefacts including business requirements, context diagrams, process models, user stories and acceptance criteria and decision and impact assessments.

Ensure end-to-end traceability from business objectives through to requirements, delivery and testing outcomes, using Jira, Confluence and approved delivery frameworks.

Identify risks, dependencies and impacts and support informed decision-making across delivery teams and stakeholders.

Partner closely with delivery teams, developers and SMEs to ensure requirements are clearly understood and implemented effectively.

Support Agile delivery practices where appropriate, while maintaining a strong focus on clarity, structure and outcome alignment.

Contribute to initiatives involving data, automation and AI-enabled solutions, ensuring business outcomes remain the primary focus.
ABOUT YOU

5-10 years' experience as a Business Analyst within complex, enterprise, or regulated environments.

Experience working across the full delivery lifecycle, from discovery through to implementation and testing.

Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems and translate them into clear, actionable requirements.

Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions, challenge assumptions and build alignment across business and technology teams.

Experience working within Agile or hybrid delivery environments, including Scrum or Kanban frameworks

Ability to balance structured thinking with pragmatic delivery, adapting approach based on context.

Practical experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence and Microsoft 365
-
A solid understanding of software development lifecycles, delivery governance and change impacts
-
Exposure to data, automation, AI-enabled solutions or emerging technologies will be highly regarded

A practical, outcome-focused mindset with a focus on delivering value rather than simply documenting requirements.
