Workshop Manager / Leading Hand
Location: Rural Farm Workshop – Booie, QLD (near Kingaroy)
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Workshop Manager / Leading Hand to join our growing team. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment, takes pride in their work, and can confidently manage a small workshop independently.
This role is perfect for someone with a strong "handyman" mindset—someone who can think on their feet, solve problems, and get the job done without needing constant supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop.
- Receive and inspect incoming import shipments.
- Conduct inventory checks and maintain stock control.
- Load and unload shipping containers and trucks (forklift licence required).
- Assemble a wide range of products and equipment.
- Package orders for our regular truck delivery runs.
- Manage inventory and organise the workshop efficiently.
- Lead and supervise additional workshop staff during busy periods.
- Maintain a clean, safe and productive work environment.
Container Building Projects
One of the exciting parts of this role is helping build and convert shipping containers into a range of products, including:
- Tiny homes
- Garages
- Workshops
- Portable buildings
- Custom container projects
Experience in the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Timber or steel framing
- Cladding
- Plasterboard (Gyprock)
- Plastering and finishing
- Flooring installation
- General carpentry
- Basic fabrication and construction
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a strong practical and mechanical aptitude.
- Can work independently and manage their own workload.
- Is organised and takes ownership of the workshop.
- Has leadership experience or the confidence to manage a small team.
- Has experience using forklifts (current forklift licence essential).
- Enjoys variety—no two days are the same.
- Is reliable, motivated and takes pride in producing quality work.
- Has excellent problem-solving skills and a "can-do" attitude.
