About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically capable Tailings Deposition Planning Engineer to join our team. In this newly created role, you will support the delivery of safe, efficient and sustainable tailings storage management across our operation.
Working closely with operations and technical teams, you will contribute to the modelling, optimisation, and performance monitoring of tailings deposition, ensuring alignment with site requirements and industry standards.
Key responsibilities

Develop and implement tailings deposition plans aligned with operational and environmental requirements

Monitor tailings deposition, water management, and operational performance to identify improvement opportunities

Collaborate with operations, geotechnical, and environmental teams to ensure safe tailings storage facility (TSF) performance

Analyse data and contribute to forecasts, reporting, and performance reviews

Support risk management activities and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in tailings management practices

Assist with audits, inspections, and governance requirements
About You
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented professional with an understanding of tailings systems and a commitment to safe and sustainable mining practices.
Key requirements include:

Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline

Mining operations experience

Project management and scheduling experience

Experience in tailings management, deposition planning, or TSF operations - highly regarded

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Working knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g. ANCOLD, GISTM)

Proficiency in data analysis tools (eg. Excel) and exposure to specialised mining software (e.g. CAD, Muk3D) – highly regarded

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
