We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead the tactical and operational management of our on-premises, high-availability data centre and cloud-based network solutions. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure, this is a hands-on role at the centre of an exciting period of growth — maintaining and enhancing our new data centre and the dark fibre links connecting our offices and both data centres. You'll play a key role in maintaining and advancing our network security function, ensuring our infrastructure remains industry best in range for performance, security and reliability.
Set design standards, recommend solutions, and act as the go-to expert on network technology, including routing and switching.
Oversee documentation, design, implementation and training across network solutions.
Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise network performance, including planning and delivering upgrades and security patches to switches, routers and the wider routing and firewall layers.
Take ownership of the network security layer — hardening and upgrading Cisco switches, managing firewall and routing layers, and proactively remediating vulnerabilities.
Apply network automation skills to streamline configuration, monitoring and change processes across the environment.
Build and maintain relationships with third-party service providers to ensure seamless operations.
Guide network team peers, manage third-party interactions, and contribute to strategic network infrastructure planning.
Be a vital part of the team maintaining and enhancing our new data centre and the dark fibre network between our offices and both data centres, upgrading and securing our Cisco switching environment along the way.
About You
Qualifications
- CCNA or equivalent certification (Mandatory)
- CCNP — Cisco Certified Network Professional (Mandatory)
- Tertiary qualification in IT or a related field (Mandatory)
- PCNSE/NGFW - (Highly desirable)
- CCIE Enterprise/Security (Highly desirable)
- CWNA, ITIL certifications (Highly desirable)
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years' hands-on experience managing Cisco routers and switches, including Catalyst Centre and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
- 5+ years in enterprise firewall administration and management of the security layer, with experience across Palo Alto and Fortinet platforms
- Expertise across SDWAN, routing and switching, VPN, WiFi performance, dark fibre/fibre optics and cyber security
- Experience upgrading and securing network switches in a live, high-availability environment
- Network automation skills, including Terraform, with an interest in streamlining routine network tasks
- Experience operating within NIST and APRA compliance frameworks
- Strong ability to troubleshoot network problems and enhance performance
- Experience with Change Management and proactive cyber security measures
