About the role
The Senior Performance Insights Officer will support and operationalise Departmental performance and data priorities through delivery of high‑quality analysis, reporting and data initiatives. This role sits at the heart of a growing data and analytics capability, contributing to the Department's move toward a connected data capability across the portfolio and related strategies.
Some of the key accountabilities of the role include –
- Coordinate and deliver high‑quality analytical inputs, data validation and supporting materials for Department and Cabinet performance reporting under the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework, to support executive‑level decision‑
- Develop, maintain and enhance performance reports, dashboards and measures in line with agreed frameworks and standards, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely and clearly identify trends, risks and variances for escalation.
- Contribute to data curation, integration, and the development of reusable, well-documented data assets that support consistent reporting across the portfolio.
- Design clear, compelling data visualisations and narratives that translate complex analysis into insight for executive and non-technical audiences.
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative performance data to identify patterns, emerging issues and improvement opportunities, providing evidence‑based insights and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision‑making.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have –
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience delivering performance reporting, analysis and insights in a large, complex organisation, including contributing to enterprise, portfolio or whole‑of‑government reporting for senior leadership and governance forums.
- A practical interest with reporting, analytics and data visualisation approaches, and experience with reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau would be highly regarded.
- Proven experience analysing and synthesising qualitative and quantitative data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities, and translating complex information into clear, evidence‑based insights and briefing materials for non‑technical audiences.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience applying data governance frameworks and standards, including data quality management, version control, agreed measures, data definitions and calculation methodologies, and supporting assurance or audit‑related processes.
