CELA's Government Affairs team sits at the intersection of technology, policy and public trust. We're looking for someone to be part of our Government Affairs team, helping to engage with governments, regulators and industry leaders to shape practical technology policy outcomes across Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities
Develop and execute government affairs strategies that advance Microsoft's policy, commercial and reputational priorities in Australia.- Build and maintain trusted relationships with government stakeholders, industry associations and civil society partners.
- Provide timely, concise and actionable advice to senior leaders on political, legislative and regulatory developments.
- Lead policy analysis and advocacy across key issues including AI, cybersecurity, data centres, digital resilience, online safety, regulatory issues and digital government.
- Coordinate cross functional collaboration across local and regional teams to ensure aligned policy positions and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare high quality briefings, policy submissions, speaking points, meeting materials and executive correspondence for senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities in the external environment and recommend practical engagement strategies.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications (RQs)
Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area
o OR equivalent experience
- Experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory engagement, corporate affairs, or a related field.
- Experience working with government, technology, consulting, regulated industries, or public sector organizations.
- Experience briefing executives, supporting senior stakeholder engagement, and contributing to policy advocacy or submissions.
- Experience in technology policy, AI, cyber security, digital infrastructure, regulatory issues, or the digital economy preferred.
Preferred Qualifications (PQs)

Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Technology, Law, Liberal Arts, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years work experience in government affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, government, or related area

3+ years experience in developing and managing strategic relationships to advocate and influence public, regulatory, and technology policy priorities

3+ years experience influencing, developing, or supporting public policy or political campaigns
