We have an opportunity for a Director within the Energy, Extractive and Southwest Compliance Branch in the Environmental Services and Regulation (ESR) division of the Department of Environment and Science. This role leads a team that make environmental decisions about the petroleum and gas extraction, quarries, power stations and chemical manufacturing and storage.
You will need to work collaboratively with industry, across government and with communities to protect the environment and make a real difference. You will promote sustainable development, focus on improving environmental performance and reducing environmental risk of industry.

This position requires:
- Proven experience to lead and drive business performance and reform in a regulatory environment
- Proven ability to motivate and engage staff, and lead through change, for the strategic delivery of environmental management services, programs and projects
- A well-developed understanding of contemporary environmental and regulatory development trends, drivers and approaches
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, and the agility and resilience to adapt to a rapidly changing context
- Superior stakeholder management to pursue ESR's objectives through communicating with influence in a contested environment.
