The position is in a north-eastern suburb of Perth in Western Australia and is part of an established Pharmacy group. It is open to registered pharmacists with at least 3 years of experience, preferably as Pharmacist in Charge.
Key duties will include but not limited to:
- Receiving prescriptions, checking patients' medication histories, and ensuring optimal dosage and methods of administration and drug compatibility before dispensing.
- Checking prescriptions prepared by interns and dispense technicians.
- Counsel patients with the optimal and safe use of medication.
- When necessary, preparing, and if required, supervising the preparation and labelling of liquid medicines, ointments, powders, tablets and other medications for compounded prescriptions.
- Responsible for the development and growth of the business, taking enough control to ensure the efficiency of operations, develop staff expertise and ensure that first class customer service is delivered in both the front of the store and the dispensary.
- Assist in advising prescribers on drug incompatibility and contra-indications
- Reviewing and monitoring the medicine therapy of individual patients, and assessing the effectiveness of the total medicine therapy
- Maintaining prescription files and recording issue of narcotics, poisons and habit-forming drugs
- Storing and preserving vaccines, serums and other drugs subject to deterioration.
- Able to vaccinate, including COVID-19, all NIP and WA based vaccines, and apply training for any subsequent expansion of the pharmacy vaccination program.
- Be trained and conversant with the diagnosis and treatment of uncomplicated UTI.
- Be trained and conversant with resupply of OCPs.
- Supplying non-prescription medicines, and diagnostic and therapeutic aids to patients and customers.
- Assist with customer service queries.
- Maintain all dispensary stock needs through detailed ordering using the dispense software and systems developed by our professional team.
- Be conversant with the use and maintenance of MedAdvisor.
- Compliance with all State and Federal pharmacy guidelines whilst providing leadership within the pharmacy.
- Need to perform to the standards set by the current staff and colleagues, The Pharmacy Board of Australia, and The Pharmacy Guild of Australia.
- Prepared to uptake all aspects of the future growth in the scope of pharmacist practice and should understand and be prepared to undertake all aspects of the 8CPA Professional Pharmacy Program.
