This Opportunity
The Team Leader Families and Children provides operational leadership, practice oversight and workforce support to the Families and Children team, ensuring services are delivered to a high standard and remain strengths‑based, person‑centred and evidence‑informed. The role coordinates daily service activities, supports effective case management practice, and ensures compliance with organisational policies, funding requirements and legislative obligations. Through supervision, mentoring and collaboration with the Manager, the Team Leader builds team capability, contributes to service development, strengthens internal and external partnerships, and fosters a professional, safe and accountable workplace that delivers positive outcomes for children, families and the wider community.
Key Role Responsibilities
•
Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership across the Families and Children service.
•
Oversee case management practice, ensuring compliance with Accordwest standards, funding requirements and legislative obligations.
•
Support Case Workers through supervision, mentoring and guidance using evidence‑based and trauma‑informed approaches.
•
Lead risk management, safety planning, urgent notifications and incident responses.
•
Build strong partnerships with community organisations, government agencies, First Nations communities and specialist services.
•
Contribute to program development, community engagement initiatives, training delivery and continuous quality improvement.
•
Participate in the Duty Manager roster, supporting out‑of‑hours service delivery teams.
•
Foster a positive, safe, accountable and collaborative team culture.
•
Ensure accurate data collection, reporting and achievement of service targets.
•
Represent Accordwest in industry forums, working groups and community networks.
Skills and Experiences:
Essential Requirements
•
Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or similar OR 7+ years’ experience in a related service field.
•
Demonstrated high‑level clinical and case management skills.
•
Experience delivering trauma‑informed practice.
•
Proven experience leading teams in a community services environment.
•
Experience in community engagement and partnership development.
•
Strong understanding of child development, child wellbeing and safety assessment.
•
Experience supporting parents to build skills, confidence and capacity.
•
Current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, Department Clearances, and a valid Driver’s Licence.
