The Opportunity
We are seeking a Compliance Officer to join our supportive, professional multidisciplinary team on a flexible part-time basis (0.6 FTE).
This role is responsible for developing and implementing compliance strategies, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and regulations, and supporting staff in maintaining compliance and regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
- Ensure compliance with Aged Care Standards and other healthcare specific regulations
- Prepare and submit statutory reports to regulatory bodies, including emergency management reporting and business continuity requirements
- Undertake projects that contribute to the improvement of compliance processes
- Maintain and administer whistleblower system
- Monitor timeliness of incident and complaint closures
- Health Information requests, accountable and responsible for validating, coordinating responses, and ensuring compliance with legislation, privacy and organisational policy
- Maintain policy register and review schedule
- Lead privacy/regulatory audits
- Prepare compliance reports for executive leadership, the Board and external regulatory bodies
- Facilitate staff consultation and participation in compliance committees and initiatives
Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualifications in a relevant field such as Law, Business, Governance, Risk and Compliance, Health Administration, Public Health or a related field
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated experience (minimum two years) in healthcare or aged care settings, with a focus on compliance management and regulatory adherence
- Proven leadership capability, with experience influencing and guiding multidisciplinary teams to achieve safety and compliance outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in electronic compliance and incident reporting systems, including dashboards, to monitor performance and ensure accountability.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with a track record of using data to inform decision-making, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
