About the role
The Sonographer supports the delivery and management of a 24/7 medical imaging service across all departmental sites. As a Grade 3 Sonographer, you will be recognised as a competent practitioner in ultrasound, demonstrating strong clinical expertise and the ability to work independently. In this role, you will operate a range of ultrasound equipment and information systems (including RIS/PACS, FirstNet and BOSS), contribute to a rotating roster with on-call, overtime and shift requirements, and perform imaging across all Barwon Health sites.
- Perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations competently and independently, delivering high-quality imaging within required timeframes and adapting techniques based on clinical needs.
- Ensure accurate patient identification, provide safe and high-quality care, and adhere to all relevant clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
- Work closely with radiologists, contribute to a 24/7 service (including on-call), and recognise when to escalate or seek guidance from senior staff.
- Support training of students and junior staff, maintain CPD requirements, and actively contribute to ongoing learning and development.
- Successfully completed a post graduate qualification in ultrasound (e.g. DMU or university graduate diploma)
- Registered with the Australian Sonographer Association Registry (ASAR)
- Excellent time management, communication skills and professionalism
- The Grade 3 Sonographer is a competent practitioner in ultrasound.
