About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated After Hours Manager to provide operational, clinical and leadership support across the hospital outside of normal business hours.
As the senior clinical leader on duty, you will be responsible for coordinating hospital operations, providing expert clinical guidance, supporting nursing and multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient care. You will play a key role in managing staffing, responding to clinical and operational issues, leading emergency responses, and maintaining high standards of governance, quality and patient safety.
Working collaboratively with clinical managers, medical officers and support services, you will ensure the hospital continues to deliver exceptional patient care while promoting a positive, supportive workplace culture.
Essential Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Extensive post-registration clinical experience within an acute hospital setting.
- Previous leadership or clinical coordination experience, preferably in an after-hours, nurse management or shift coordinator capacity.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and fostering collaborative working relationships.
- Sound understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, risk management and quality improvement principles.
- Ability to work autonomously while providing confident leadership across the hospital.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional patient-centred care and maintaining professional standards.
Desirable qualifications and experience include:
- Postgraduate qualifications in Nursing, Leadership, Management or a relevant specialty.
- Experience with workforce coordination and staff rostering.
- Knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and relevant healthcare legislation.
- Experience in private healthcare.
