Venue Manager — Byron Bay Spirits Lounge
Do you love people, cocktails, and good music? Byron Bay Spirits Co. is looking for a talented all-rounder to activate our cellar door and make it sparkle.
We're after someone entrepreneurial — someone who'll treat the Lounge like it's their own business, who already knows half of Byron Bay and can get them through our doors. This is a small, hands-on venue, so you won't just be managing it — you'll be behind the bar, on the floor, and part of the action every shift. In return, we're offering a base salary plus commission on bar sales, so your hustle directly pays off.
About the role
The Byron Bay Spirits Lounge is the customer-facing heart of our brand — our cellar door, our bar, and increasingly, one of the best live music rooms in Byron Bay. As Venue Manager, you'll be hands-on running the show day to day: bartending, serving guests, driving foot traffic, building a buzzing atmosphere, and making sure the space is always sparkling — literally and figuratively.
We're in the middle of an ambitious build-out of our live music program, Sunset Sessions, with a big summer season of gigs planned as we establish the Lounge as a home for great, innovative music and a genuine supporter of local musicians. You'll be instrumental in bringing that to life — working alongside our team on programming, artist logistics, and turning gig nights into something people talk about.
What you'll be doing
- Bartending and serving guests — this is a small venue and you'll be on the tools every shift, not just managing from the sidelines
- Owning day-to-day operations of the Lounge — service standards, presentation, atmosphere
- Growing the venue commercially: using your own network and social presence to get people through the door and keeping them coming back
- Sourcing and managing food partners to build out our food offering
- Managing events, from casual Sunset Sessions nights to bigger ticketed shows
- Working closely with our live music program to support artist logistics and gig-night execution
- Leading and rostering venue staff
- Keeping the space immaculate — clean, sharp, and always ready to impress
About you
- Well connected in the Byron Bay community, with a social network you can bring with you — you know how to fill a room
- Genuinely loves to go out, be part of a scene, and get people excited to join you
- A proven track record building up venues and growing a customer base
- Hands-on bar and hospitality experience — you're just as comfortable pulling a beer or shaking a cocktail as you are managing the bigger picture
- Experience managing events and working with external partners (food, entertainment, suppliers)
- Genuine love of hospitality, cocktails, and live music
- Entrepreneurial mindset — you think like an owner, not just an employee
- Strong people skills, front-of-house presence, and a knack for creating a great vibe
- Comfortable juggling the practical (bartending, venue upkeep, rostering) with the strategic (growth, partnerships)
What we offer
- Base salary plus commission on bar sales — your effort is rewarded directly
- A genuinely exciting brand moment: be part of building Byron Bay's next great live music venue
- Autonomy to run the Lounge as your own patch
- A beautiful setting at Byron Bay Spirits' Arts & Industry Estate distillery and cellar door
