Details: ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is seeking applications from highly motivated, experienced and suitably qualified individuals, to fill the role of Area Manager, Construction Security (CO3), within Custodial Operations.
Working closely with Custodial Operations Senior Management team and other stakeholders, the Area Manager (Construction Security) is an enabling role to ensure capital works proceed in a way that ensures the objectives of the organisation are met, while effectively managing all matters relating to security of construction works, including site access, safety, risk, and resources in a cost effective and efficient manner in accordance with legislation, policy, procedures, industry best practice and budgets.
The successful applicant will be responsible for devloping a staffing model proposal to enable the capital works to safely operate on site. This includes recruting and managing the proposed team that will support construction security activities, including the implementation of scheduling, rostering, and training/development, in addition to conducting performance assessments and providing feedback.
The successful applicant will also contribute to the management of all aspects of security of approved capital work areas including storage, stockpile, ablutions, staging, amenities, parking, site offices, waste accumulation, barriers, screening and work zones.
Where appropriate, the role will supervise, coach, train, instruct and work with detainees on construction projects, including individuals with a history of serious offending, to develop their work skills in order to enhance post-release employment opportunities.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Relevant custodial experience and Certificate III in Correctional Practice are essential.

Current unrestricted Driver’s license is essential.

Relevant qualifications in at least one of the following areas is desirable:
- Risk management

Frontline management

Community safety
-
Security management

Hold the following qualification or be able to obtain before on-site work commencement:
- Construction induction (white card) with related sub-courses including asbestos and Silica awareness.

Senior first aid

This position may require pre-employment psychological and medical testing and Police record check.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 21 December 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

The annual leave accrual for this specific roster will be at four weeks per annum.
