The Hamilton Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) is seeking enthusiastic Assistant Theatre Technicians to join our team. If you're passionate about live events and entertainment and have hands-on industry experience, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the seamless load-in and load-out of performances, events, and productions
- Prepare and set up staging, technical equipment, props, and scenic elements to ensure every show is performance-ready
- Operate and support a range of technical systems, including professional sound and lighting consoles, helping deliver exceptional live event experiences
What We're Looking For:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work confidently and professionally with colleagues, performers, clients, and visiting crews
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced live production environment
- Flexibility to work a varied roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, in line with event and performance schedules
- A genuine passion for the performing arts, live events, and delivering outstanding audience experiences
The following licences and certifications are desirable but not essential:
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) licence
- Rigging Licence
- Electrical Test and Tag Certifiation
- First Aid Level 2 Certificate
The successful applicant must demonstrate experience coordinating and operating lighting, sound, and staging to support successful performances and events.
A current working with children check will be required.
