About the Role
Zertain is recruiting a senior Enterprise Architect to take ownership of the technology direction across our product and platform portfolio. You will set the architectural vision, govern engineering standards, and lead multi-disciplinary delivery teams (frontend, backend, big data and DevOps) from blueprint through to production.
This is a permanent, full-time role based at Zertain's Sydney office at Level 1, 60 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000, reporting to the Co-Founder. The role requires regular on-site presence at Zertain client locations across Sydney and (periodically) interstate. This is NOT a work-from-home position.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy, roadmap and reference patterns
- Lead architectural governance and technology selection across cloud (AWS preferred), data, streaming and security tooling
- Oversee design and delivery of complex, multi-threaded, distributed systems handling high event throughput
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams; set technical direction and ensure delivery to quality, security and timeline targets
- Establish DevOps, release-management and observability practices across the production estate
- Embed security-by-design including identity, MFA, threat detection and SIEM/SOC capabilities
- Engage senior internal and client stakeholders on-site; represent Zertain in pre-sales and solutioning
- Mentor engineers and grow internal architecture capability
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor degree (or higher) in Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of progressive enterprise software architecture experience, with at least 5 years in a lead/managerial capacity
- Deep Java / J2EE / Spring Boot expertise; demonstrated track record across microservice and monolithic architectures
- Hands-on AWS architecture experience (Lambda, Cognito, API Gateway, CloudFront, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, Terraform)
- Practical expertise across modern web frontends (Angular and/or React) and Node.js services
- Big-data and streaming experience: Kafka, Spark, Storm, Zookeeper, NiFi, RabbitMQ; Elasticsearch, Impala, Kudu, HDFS
- CI/CD pipeline ownership: GitLab, Jenkins, JFrog, Terraform
- Substantive cybersecurity domain experience: SIEM design, SOC/NOC, threat intelligence, vulnerability management
- Excellent written and verbal English; ability to influence executive stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to client sites in Sydney and interstate as required
